Connections

UCSC Math was an early sponsor of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI; now SLMath), and we maintain close ties with mathematicians in the Bay Area and beyond. We are involved in a number of joint projects with nearby schools, as well as data science workshops for scholars in STEM and non-STEM fields. We also collaborate with other UCSC departments, such as Physics and Applied Math. And we are dedicated to community outreach initiatives such as the Monterey Bay Area Mathematics Project (MBAMP).

Distinctions

Our research achievements are reflected in NSF CAREER grants, IAS appointments, and other top honors in Mathematics. Our work is awarded internationally as well as domestically.

Our instructors are often recognized for their outstanding teaching by the campus. We are also the home of the first UC online class (Online Calculus) to be articulated at all 9 undergraduate UC campuses.

Your donation to the Mathematics Department supports fundamental research and teaching excellence. You can also give directly to Math Fellowships to help deserving students afford their education. Thank you!
